Michael Shortt, who is unknown outside his native Ireland, had been spotted performing at the historic Adare Manor near Limerick, by Kevin Shannon, a travel agent from Shepherds Bush who sponsored the concert.
The show was introduced by Russian pianist Maria Yugina who played Chopin and Liszt and accompanied Odyle Perot from France on the recorder. Next, Mick Bailey (Guitar) and Mick O'Connor (Banjo) joined Colette O'Leary (Accordion) and Gerry Ryan (piano) accompanying Michael Shortt in a selection of popular Irish songs. In the second half Michael, who has been compared |
with Frank Sinatra, was joined by the Tim Saunders Jazz Band for a selection of popular jazz standards.
Mick Bailey said "The audience was enthralled, Michael Shortt really has an outstanding talent and I wish him every success. He sang a selection of popular Irish songs as well as jazz standards. Kevin is planning to bring him back in the new year and we are really looking forward to working with him again." The concert was recorded live. The new CD will be available together with Michael's previous recordings "My Kind of Song" and "Ireland Calling" from Kevin Shannon Travel 020 7602 2776 |
